Our Story
A company built on the belief that financial clarity is available to everyone
Founded in Melaka with a clear purpose — to give Malaysian adults the financial knowledge they deserve, in a form that respects their intelligence and their time.
← Back to HomeHow We Started
A gap that was too large to ignore
Teratai Jauhari was established in Melaka after its founders spent years noticing the same pattern: many Malaysians reaching their 40s and 50s felt uncertain about their own financial situation — not because they were careless, but because nobody had ever explained it to them in a way that made sense.
The financial education landscape in Malaysia had long been dominated by product-centred seminars and short workshops designed to lead participants toward specific investments. What was missing was something slower, more careful — a proper course of study, free of commercial interest, that treated learners as capable adults who simply needed good information.
We chose the name Teratai Jauhari — "the jewelled lotus" — because the lotus grows from still water and reaches upward steadily. It is not in a hurry. Neither are our learners, and neither are we.
Since our first intake, we have worked with Malaysians across Melaka, Johor, Kuala Lumpur, and beyond — professionals, homemakers, self-employed individuals, and retirees-in-waiting — all looking for the same thing: a clear, calm explanation of where they stand and what their options are.
Our Mission
To give Malaysians at midlife the financial understanding they need to make considered decisions — without pressure, without jargon, and without a product to sell.
Our Values
- — Honesty. We describe financial products as they are, not as they are marketed.
- — Patience. Every learner moves at a pace that works for them. We do not rush.
- — Respect. Our participants are experienced adults, not students to be talked down to.
- — Independence. No commissions, no referrals, no product partnerships. Our only interest is your understanding.

Our Standards
What we hold ourselves to
No Commercial Conflicts
Teratai Jauhari receives no referral fees, no commissions, and no payments from financial product providers. Our income comes only from course fees. This is non-negotiable.
Regularly Updated Content
All course materials are reviewed at least twice a year by our research team. Changes in Malaysian financial regulation, tax law, and BNM guidance are reflected promptly.
Strict Privacy Practices
Participant information — including financial details discussed in advisory sessions — is held in strict confidence and never shared with third parties under any circumstances.
Plain Language Standard
Every lesson is reviewed against a plain language standard before publication. If a concept cannot be explained clearly, we take more time — not fewer words.
Shariah Compliance Expertise
All content covering Islamic finance instruments, takaful, and Shariah-compliant investment products is reviewed by a qualified Islamic finance specialist before inclusion.
Participant Feedback Loop
We collect and act on feedback after every module and every programme. Course design evolves based on what participants tell us works, what confuses them, and what they wished had been included.
Financial Education in Malaysia
A different kind of financial learning, for a different stage of life
Most financial content in Malaysia is directed at younger audiences — those building their first budget, opening their first investment account, or applying for their first home loan. Little is aimed specifically at adults who are two decades into their working lives and are beginning to think seriously about the next chapter.
Teratai Jauhari fills this space. Our courses begin where learners in their 40s and 50s actually are: with some savings already accumulated, with children who may or may not still be financially dependent, with an EPF account whose balance may or may not feel adequate, and with questions that seem too specific, too late, or too embarrassing to ask elsewhere.
We are not a financial planning firm. We do not manage money on your behalf. What we offer is knowledge — gathered carefully, presented honestly, and delivered at a pace that allows it to settle. Whether you begin with our introductory programme or go straight to our long-range planning course, you will leave with a clearer understanding of your own financial situation and the choices available to you.
